Who is the organisation?
The University of Prishtina is the largest provider of public higher education in Kosovo, which has 17 academic units (faculties). The University of Prishtina did not have a center for career provision, thus in 2007 established a Student Service Centre – LINK in order to develop its services for careers provision for their current students.
What they needed
As the University of Prishtina had limited experience of establishing careers provision and support to students, staff within their new Student Service Centre - LINK were keen to gain a broader understanding of the infrastructure of such a developed university careers service and the skill-set inherent to that work.
With the proven achievements C2 Careers, University of London was a very good role model for University of Prishtina Student Service Centre – LINK, and the study visit organised in London during June 2008 has enabled the staff to be exposed to an established Centre and to learn about the relevant tools, methods, concepts and approaches to career guidance.
How we helped
In order to provide the most comprehensive support, C2 Careers designed a programme for the delegates from Kosovo visiting London including an opportunity to visit The Guardian London Graduate Fair organised by The Careers Group, parent body of C2 Careers. The programme also included bespoke training sessions by a range of C2 consultants on Careers Guidance Theory, Event Management and an Overview of the UK Higher Education System.
Feedback Comments
The co-operation between University of Prishtina and C2 Careers was facilitated through OSCE Mission in Kosovo. During June 2008 University of Prishtina Student Service Centre – LINK staff made a study visit to C2 Careers in London. The purpose of this study visit was to receive further training on event management and career guidance, participation at the Guardian London Graduate Fair and visit to similar centres in London, learning about the functioning of these centres by considering them as a role model in order to adapt it to the LINK centre.
Cooperation with C2 Careers has been impeccable and successful . The C2 Careers has delivered on its responsibilities, and a good and constructive working relationship was developed with them during the study visit.
