C2 and Unilever

C2 were approached by a team of information professionals at Unilever who were facing the prospect of redundancy as a result of a restructure within their department. They asked C2 to work with them based on our reputation and unique insight into their sector from a careers perspective as they wanted us to support them with professional careers advice, information and guidance at what was an unsettling time for them.

Having listened to and understood the specific concerns and needs of the individuals within this group, C2 developed a programme of specific support for them that included a group workshop lasting for half a day, which would provide a forum for them to share their anxieties as well as take valuable advice from our professional expertise. This would be followed by an afternoon of individual career coaching sessions which would allow each of them to discuss their particular situation and ask for advice on a confidential basis, with one of our professional careers advisers.

By carrying out a half day workshop for them on site at their offices, C2 were able to concentrate on helping them to explore their particular career directions and options. The workshop covered topics including:

  • a review of previous experiences
  • clarification of career goals and priorities
  • the generation of new ideas
  • understanding how to market skills

The feedback for both the group and individual sessions was extremely positive, for example:
